چکیده

An unstructured, shock-fitting algorithm, originally developed to simulate inviscid flows, has been further make it capable of dealing with shock-wave/boundary-layer interactions (SWBLI). This paper illustrates the newly implemented algorithmic features this technique and its application two-dimensional flow-configurations representative three different SWBLI patterns. A detailed comparison between numerical solutions obtained using aforementioned a “state-of-the-art” shock-capturing on nearly identical meshes are also given. More specifically, qualitative quantitative grid-convergence analyses presented show significant achievements in terms reduced discretization error improved order-of-convergence that delivers, compared shock-capturing.

Analysis of shock motion in shockwave and turbulent boundary layer interaction using direct numerical simulation data

Direct numerical simulation data of a Mach 2.9, 24◦ compression ramp configuration are used to analyse the shock motion. The motion can be observed from the animated DNS data available with the online version of the paper and from wall-pressure and mass-flux signals measured in the free stream. The characteristic low frequency is in the range of (0.007–0.013) U∞/δ, as found previously. The shoc...

Numerical Simulation of Shock-Turbulence Interactions Using High-Order Shock-Fitting Algorithms

High-order methods are critical for reliable numerical simulation of strong-shock and turbulence interaction problems. Such problems are not well understood due to limitations of numerical methods. Most widely used shock capturing methods for the numerical simulation of compressible flows are inherently dissipative, only first order accurate and may incur numerical oscillations near the shock w...

Numerical Simulation of Shock-Wave/Boundary/Layer Interactions in a Hypersonic Compression Corner Flow

Numerical results are presented for the shock-boundary layer interactions in a hypersonic flow over a sharp leading edge compression corner. In this study, a second- order Godunov type scheme based on solving a Generalized Riemann Problem (GRP) at each cell interface is used to solve thin shear layer approximation of laminar Navier-Stokes (N-S) equations. The calculated flow-field shows general...

Numerical Simulation of the Shock Wave Interaction with a Near-wall Fine Particle Layer

The dust explosion prevention in mines and dusted industries has been an important issue for years. During this time, many experimental and theoretical investigations have been carried out. Nevertheless, up to now nobody can declare that all the mechanisms are clear and the comprehensive mathematical model is constructed taking into account all the details of this complicated process. The gas-d...
